Adult stem cells

In the United States, the use of embryonic stem cells in research is severely limited by a lack of funding sources. Therefore, there is more emphasis on adult stem cells. A team of scientists from Oregon claim that they have developed a system of fusing adult stem cells to other cells, and that this process has cured some conditions in mouse models. British scientists, who are allowed to use embryonic stem cells, are not excited by the news from Oregon. The British scientists say that embryonic stem cells offer greater flexibility than adult stem cells, and that the American research should be seen in the context of their specific funding and political situation.
