Francis Collins honoured by US for his involvement in the Human Genome Project

President George W. Bush today announced the list of recipients for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, (the highest civil award in the US), recognising that "Francis S. Collins has revolutionized genetic research.  Under his leadership, the Human Genome Project mapped and sequenced the full human genome and greatly expanded our understanding of human DNA." He will receive the award at a White House ceremony on Monday, November 5, 2007.
